The Blue Economy Acceleration is a six-month innovation program launched by BGI to support early-stage entrepreneurs and researchers in developing sustainable, ocean-based ventures. Backed by the European Union and aligned with the European Green Deal, the program focuses on blue bioeconomy solutions such as circular aquaculture, digitalization, fish welfare, and microalgal biomass.
I led the full branding and visual communication of the Blue Economy Acceleration program. This included designing the logo, developing the visual identity system, and creating both digital and print assets to communicate the program’s mission clearly and professionally.
The logo features a stylized wave enclosed by a circular globe outline, symbolizing the program’s focus on the ocean and its global impact. The design uses layered shades of blue — from light aqua to deep navy — to convey sustainability, innovation, and depth. The bold "Blue Economy" wordmark (in Lato Bold) emphasizes strength and purpose, while the lighter "Acceleration" (in Lato Regular) adds clarity and balance. The flexibility of the logo (full-color, single-color, and black & white versions) ensures it works seamlessly across digital and print formats.
I also created the key visual identity used across program materials, combining ocean imagery, clean layout systems, and consistent iconography. I ensured the color palette — rich in blues and supported by green (#3F7D58) — reflected the marine innovation theme while remaining visually distinctive.
For the Blue Economy Acceleration program, I delivered:
This work helped create a professional, mission-aligned brand that gave the program strong recognition within the EU innovation ecosystem.
