Every actor knows the feeling. You have a scene to rehearse, but your scene partner is not available. Your friend is busy. Your acting class is tomorrow. You are alone in your room with a script and no one to read the other lines.
It is frustrating. It is isolating. And it is completely unnecessary now.
I built Rehearsal Room to solve this problem. It is an AI assisted screenplay rehearsal tool that lets you rehearse scenes without needing another actor physically present. You upload your script, choose your character, and Rehearsal Room becomes your virtual scene partner. It reads the other characters' lines, listens when it is your turn, and continues the scene automatically. No clicking. No pausing. Just you and your rehearsal.
Rehearsal Room takes a screenplay and turns it into an interactive rehearsal experience. You are not just reading lines off a page. You are actually running the scene, back and forth, with AI characters who respond to you.
The process is simple. You upload your screenplay, including PDF scripts. Rehearsal Room analyzes the script and understands its structure. It identifies scene headings, characters, dialogue, and the order in which lines are spoken. It separates the dialogue from everything else, so the AI does not try to read scene descriptions or action lines out loud.
Once your script is processed, you choose what to rehearse. You can select a single scene or rehearse the entire screenplay. Then you choose your character. Rehearsal Room identifies all the characters in the script. You just say "I play this character" and the rest become your virtual scene partners.
Then you press Run and start rehearsing.
This is where Rehearsal Room becomes something special. It is not a simple text to speech reader. It is a genuine rehearsal partner.
When you start a rehearsal, Rehearsal Room reads the first line from the other character. Then it waits for you. It listens through your device microphone. When you start speaking, Rehearsal Room stops reading and listens. When you finish your line, Rehearsal Room detects the pause and continues with the next character's line.
The flow is natural. AI character speaks. You respond. Rehearsal Room listens. Next character speaks. You respond. The scene continues. You never have to press Next. You just perform.
This hands free approach is the whole point. You are not operating an interface. You are acting. Rehearsal Room handles the rest.
During your turn, Rehearsal Room provides a Live Listening area. You can see a microphone activity meter so you know the app is actually receiving sound. In supported browsers, Rehearsal Room can also display what it is hearing, showing you the recognized speech in real time.
This is incredibly useful. Instead of wondering whether the microphone is working, you can see it. Instead of guessing whether the app heard you correctly, you can check. It gives you confidence that the rehearsal is actually happening.
Rehearsal Room can also check your lines. When the Check Lines feature is enabled, the app compares what you said against the scripted dialogue. It shows you the recognized line and calculates a rough similarity score. This is not about judging your performance. It is about helping you memorize and track your accuracy. You can turn it off if you do not want it.
Rehearsal Room does not just detect whether sound exists. It measures basic characteristics of your delivery. Speaking intensity. Volume. Duration. Pacing. Whether your delivery was fast or deliberate. Quiet or forceful.
This allows Rehearsal Room to build a rough description of your performance. It then uses this information to inform how your virtual scene partners respond. The goal is not just line reading. It is reactive acting. AI performs. You perform. AI reacts. The scene develops.
This is the difference between rehearsal and recitation. Rehearsal Room is designed to help you act, not just remember lines.
Rehearsal Room includes an Off Book mode to help you move from reading your lines toward performing from memory. It becomes part of your progression from learning the script to running lines to memorizing to performing the scene.
You also have control over the pacing. Rehearsal Room lets you adjust the pauses between lines so you are not rushed. You can work on timing, reactions, beats, and the natural rhythm of the scene. You decide how much space you need.
Rehearsal Room works on both computers and mobile devices. On a laptop, you can keep the screenplay visible while rehearsing and monitor the Live Listening information alongside it. On mobile, the essential controls are kept accessible near the top of the screen so you do not have to scroll through a long scene just to pause or resume rehearsal.
The experience is designed to work naturally with the device you already have available. Particularly your phone during quick rehearsals.
Rehearsal Room turns a screenplay into an interactive virtual cast so you can rehearse your character anywhere, even when no other actors are available.
It is not a PDF reader. It is not a teleprompter. It is not a line memorization app. It is a rehearsal environment. Upload a screenplay. Understand scenes and dialogue. Choose your character. Cast voices for the other characters. Choose a scene. Press Run. AI actors perform their lines. You perform yours. Rehearsal Room listens. The scene continues.
This is the solution to a problem actors constantly have. I want to rehearse this scene properly, but I do not have someone available to read the other characters with me. Rehearsal Room gives you that scene partner whenever you need one.
